Open government and the right to information: Implications for transparency and accountability in Asia

On 6 September 2021, the Secretary-General of AIPA was invited by FAO to attend the Asia – Pacific Virtual Parliamentary Dialogue on Food Security and Nutrition in the Time of COVID-19. The event was organized by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) in partnership with the Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation (AECID) and gathered experts from international organizations and members of Parliaments from Asia-Pacific countries. This dialogue was a part of events towards the Second Global Parliamentary Summit in September 2021. The purpose of the virtual platform was to engage parliamentarians and stakeholders in supporting capacity-building activities and strengthening discussion on food security and nutrition during COVID-19. AIPA Secretary-General shared the AIPA Parliaments’ recommendations to intensify their cooperation among parliaments and harmonize economic and trade policies to restore economic activities post-COVID-19 and build effective, accountable and inclusive institutions at all levels
